Reports

  • Lindsay, California Biomonitoring Results (2007) (also: en Español)
    • This report documents the extent of chlorpyrifos exposure in the community of Lindsay, CA. Report highlights both air monitoring results and bio-monitoring results. Eleven out of twelve participants had higher than average levels of chlorpyrifos metabolites in their urine, seven out of eight women had levels higher than the EPA "acceptable" dose for pregrant or nursing women.
  • Lindsay, California Air Monitoring Results (2006)
    • This report presents the results of air monitoring in populated areas in the town of Lindsay in Tulare County, California for chlorpyrifos and its oxon degradation product. 76% of air samples in 2004 and 80% of air samples in 2005 were found to contain measurable levels of chlorpyrifos and its metabolite.
  • Yakima Valley, Washington Air Monitoring Results (2006)
    • This report presents the results of air monitoring in the apple-growing region of Washington State, the Yakima Valley. With training and laboratory assistance from PANNA, the Farm Worker Pesticide Project (FWPP) monitored the air for chlorpyrifos and its oxon degradation product at two homes in the Yakima Valley in April of 2006. At one home, 81% of air samples were found to contain measurable amounts of chlorpyrifos. At the other home, 100% of air samples contained measurable amounts of chlorpyrifos.
  • Chemical Trespass (2004)
    • Many U.S. residents carry toxic pesticides in their bodies above government assessed “acceptable” levels. This report makes public for the first time an analysis of pesticide-related data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in a study of levels of chemicals in 9,282 people nationwide (2,644 of whom were tested for pesticides).
  • Messages from Monitoring: Farm Workers, Pesticides and the Need for Reform (2005)
    • Farm workers play a vital role in Washington State agriculture. This report, published by Farm Worker Pesticide Project, Farmworker Justice Fund and United Farm Workers highlights the results of a new medical monitoring program and recent studies reveal the steep price these workers and their families pay as the result of the industry’s reliance on highly toxic pesticides. This report by PANN, United Farm Workers, California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation and Californians for Pesticide Reform compiles information on reported farmworker pesticide poisonings and enforcement of pesticide worker health and safety laws throughout California. It is an update of the 1999 report, Fields of Poison: California Farmworkers and Pesticides.
  • Secondhand Pesticides: Airborne Pesticide Drift in California (2003)
    • This report, authored by PANNA, California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation, Californians for Pesticide Reform and Pesticide Education Center offers unique, new analysis of the scope of the problem of toxic airborne pesticide pollution in California. This report, authored by PANNA, United Farm Wokers, California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation and Californians for Pesticide Reform reveals that California farmworkers face a greater risk of pesticide poisonings than any other segment of the population. Includes an introduction to the problems related to pesticide exposure by California farmworkers, an analysis of pesticide exposure and poisonings amongst farmworker communities, a review of the effectiveness of current enforcement laws, and recommendations for the state with regards to protecting farmworkers from pesticides.
  • Fields of Poison 2002 (2002)
    • This report by PANNA, United Farm Workers, California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation and Californians for Pesticide Reform compiles information on reported farmworker pesticide poisonings and enforcement of pesticide worker health and safety laws throughout California. It is an update of the 1999 report, Fields of Poison: California Farmworkers and Pesticides.
  • Fields of Poison (1999)
    • This report, authored by PANNA, United Farm Wokers, California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation and Californians for Pesticide Reform reveals that California farmworkers face a greater risk of pesticide poisonings than any other segment of the population. Includes an introduction to the problems related to pesticide exposure by California farmworkers, an analysis of pesticide exposure and poisonings amongst farmworker communities, a review of the effectiveness of current enforcement laws, and recommendations for the state with regards to protecting farmworkers from pesticides.
  • Pesticides and Human Health (2000)
    • This resource kit, compiled by Dr. Gina Solomon of Natural Resources Defense Council and partners, is designed to equip doctors and health professionals with the tools they need to adress the often misunderstood and obsure health effects seen in patients who have been exposed to pesticides. This report, authored by PANNA, California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation, Californians for Pesticide Reform and Pesticide Education Center offers unique, new analysis of the scope of the problem of toxic airborne pesticide pollution in California.
